The Japanese defender did not give the Ajax attack a kick winning 100% of challenges and six clearances.

DEFENDER: Riechedly Bazoer (Vitesse)

One goal and one assist for the Algerian which looks to have a new lease of life under Thomas Letsch and linking up well with Oussama Tannane and Luis Openda.

FORWARD: Zakaria Aboukhlal (AZ Alkmaar)

The 20-year-old winger grabbed his first senior goals in the unreal 4-4 draw away to Sparta. Notching twice set his team up to a coasting win before the horrendous collapse – the youngster hardly put a foot wrong.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Another two goals to the tally for the former Watford man. Three out of three for dribbles. Landed 55 out of 66 passing attempts and even managed to win five tackles. Steven grabs his first player of the week award of the new season – probably won’t be his last.

GOALKEEPER: Thorsten Kirschbaum (VVV)

The score could have been a lot worse for VVV against Heerenveen if the 33-year-old German stopper had not pulled off seven saves on Saturday evening.

The full-back was influential in Utrecht’s 3-1 victory winning six of his seven challenges on the floor and an 85% passing accuracy.

The Japanese defender headed home in the 4-0 win over Sparta and provided support at the other end winning five of the seven duels in the air.

DEFENDER: Marcos Senesi (Feyenoord)

A centre-back performing a sublime volleyed goal, unlucky not to win our POTW award this week for that alone.

DEFENDER: Philipp Max (PSV)

The German left-back makes another appearance in our TOTW and showed his spot-kick taking prowess in his side’s disappointing 1-1 draw away to Heracles.

MIDFIELDER: Clint Leemans (PEC Zwolle)

The former PSV youth supplied a goal and assist in his side 4-0 win over Henk Fraser’s Sparta. A total of 21 of his 25 passes met their target.

MIDFIELDER: Joey Veerman (sc Heerenveen)

Three weeks of Eredivisie football and three weeks Veerman makes the TOTW. Joey converted a penalty and frustrated VVV so much that two of them were dismissed for fouling the midfielder.

Our Player of the Week Christian Kum (VVV) stops Mimoun Mahi in his tracks.

DEFENDER: Christian Kum (VVV-Venlo)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

DEFENDER: Riechedly Bazoer (Vitesse)

The former Ajax midfielder is excelling in his new central defensive role in Arnhem. In Saturday’s 2-0 win over Sparta, Bazoer stuck his foot in and produced a 94% accurate pass percentage with four key passes and created two big chances. He also managed to nab himself a shot on target too. Unlucky not to win our POTW award this week. A close second.

DEFENDER: Philipp Max (PSV)

The German left-back is impressing everyone in Eindhoven and was involved in both goals in his side’s 2-1 win over Emmen. He was sadly involved in Emmen’s goals (Mvogo’s blunder) but we can’t blame for that but he might think twice about playing the ball to the Swiss keeper in future.

MIDFIELDER: Oussama Tannane (Vitesse)

Tannane announced himself to the Arnhem faithful with a sublime performance in the 2-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam topped with a wonderful long-range free-kick smashed in with unreal techinque.

MIDFIELDER: Joey Veerman (sc Heerenveen)

After being close to the Player of the Week award last week, young Joey Veerman continued his good form with his second appearance in our #TOTW in as many weeks. He converted a penalty and again was inspirational for his side’s win. Accurate with 10 of his 15 long balls was incredibly noticeable as well getting his foot in when it mattered.

Mohammed Kudus wins man of the match award in Ajax win
Ajax have seem to discovered another phenomenal talent in Mohamed Kudus.

MIDFIELDER: Mohamed Kudus (Ajax)

The 18-year-old Ghanaian/Norwegian enjoyed his first experience of the Johan Cruijff Arena with a ‘Man of the Match’ display against RKC Waalwijk. Ajax look like they have a jem on their hands once again.

FORWARD: Vangelis Pavlidis (Willem II)

Two goals in the 4-0 win over Heracles. Standard behaviour from the Greek striker.

FORWARD: Henk Veerman (sc Heerenveen)

The big man showed unique skill for his goal this weekend and assisted another with great forward thinking. Looks like he’s settled back in at Heerenveen already.

FORWARD: Dusan Tadic (Ajax)

The usual suspects are amongst the goals already and the Serb completes the eleven this week. A superb piece of technique shown for his goal in the 3-0 win over RKC. Not only lethal in front of goal, Tadic created some big chances to extend the lead in Amsterdam on Sunday.

MIDFIELDER: Pablo Rosario (PSV)

With three successful dribbles, Rosario assisted PSV’s second goal and stuck in his foot when needed with three tackles and a interception. The prime example of a box-to-box midfielder.

MIDFIELDER: Joey Veerman (Heerenveen)

Close to being Player of the Week, Veerman created one and played a major part in both of Heerenveen’s goals with a 83% pass accuracy rate including 10 out of 13 long balls hitting the target. Joey cpuld be the next big transfer out of the Friesland.

FOUR goals by Nasser El Khayati more than earns himself Player of the Week! The attacking midfielder, a summer signing from Queens Park Rangers has hit six goals for the season already.

It’s the oldest strikeforce in the Eredivisie up top for our Team of the Week as Robin van Persie and Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s goals made them a no-brainer in the forward line.

PSV smashed Willem II 6-1 thanks to two goals from Nick Viergever and boy did Angelino put in a shift. The Spanish left-back on-loan from Manchester city certainly looks a talent at this early stage.

Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech are other entries from Ajax as they led their side to a 4-0 away victory in Arnhem versus Vitesse.

Eredivisie Team of the Week: PSV’s Gaston glows on Week One

The Eredivisie season is back and so is our Player of the Year tournament. Every week Will Burns and Steve Davies select the best 11 from that week’s action and each player is awarded one point. One member of the team will win the ‘Player of the Week’ award and be awarded two points. Check the current standings here.

Due to the fantastic performance in PSV’s emphatic 4-0 win over FC Utrecht, with a goal and assist we have awarded Gaston Pereiro the ‘Player of the Week’ award and he receives the two points.

PSV hold two other positions in the team with Denzel Dumfries and Steven Bergwijn, who notched goals themselves in the Saturday evening’s game. Heerenveen, 3-2 winners over PEC Zwolle on Friday night, have a pair in the team: Arber Zeneli and Morten Thorsby. Thorsby notched two goals before receiving a red card near the hour mark, however we felt his performance still warranted a place in the eleven. Zwolle striker Mike van Duinen notched both goals for this side in the opening game of the Eredivisie campaign.

AZ were big winners on Sunday afternoon smashing NAC Breda for five and Teun Koopmeiners was the star of the show. He is joined in the team by left-back Thomas Ouwejan, both were scorers in the 5-0 victory. Vitesse also hit five goals this past weekend (5-1 vs. FC Groningen) and Roy Beerens created one and scored one to gain a place in the team of the week.

Ajax failed on the opening day against Heracles and if it was not for Matthijs de Ligt it could have been worse. The 19-year-old defender headed home an late equaliser to spare Ajax’s blushes in a 1-1 draw.

Rounding out the team is German goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall who was unstoppable in VVV’s 1-0 over Willem II.
