Eight matches were played on Friday evening, we begin with a win for NEC Nijmegen at Helmond Sport writes Kalkeren Kieran.

The away side conceded in the opening minutes through Helmond’s Stanley Elbers but NEC equalised on the 15th minute when the Iran international Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored, it wasn’t long and Jahanbakhsh double NEC’s lead and bagged his second goal of the night. Sjoerd Ards scored twice for the away side, the match finished 4-1 victory for NEC Nijmegen.

FC Den Bosch beat Jong Ajax 2-0, Benjamin van den Broek and Erik Quekel scored for the home side. The defeat for Jong Ajax means the team have lost their last three matches in a row, they face Sparta Rotterdam in round 6.

A 3-0 victory for Fortuna Sittard in round five of the competition, Sittard travelled to Achilles 29 and picked up all three points with Seku Conneh scoring twice and Jordie Briels once, to round up a convincing away win for Sittard, who went into the match after losing their last three matches, Achilles return to the bottom of the table.

Jong PSV hosted FC Eindhoven the away side defeated PSV 3-1, although Maxime Gunst was shown a straight red card on the 20th minute and PSV’s Clint Leemans netted for the home side, FC Eindhoven weren’t hindered by the sending off of their number five, and went on to beat keeper Bertram’s three times as Chiro N’Toko, Snader Heesakkers and Fries Deschilder got their names on the score sheet for the away side.

RKC Waalwijk’s season has continued to disappoint many supporters and their chances of finishing in a Play-off place seems to be in serious doubt, after another defeat during the weekend. This time the blue and yellows were defeated at home by Jong FC Twente 2-1, Jari Oosterwijk and Alvin Daniels put their side into a two goal lead, until Kenny Anderson netted for the home side on the 83rd minute but the Waalwijkers failed to show much defensive discipline, which becoming a habit for the side who fancied their chances of winning the title at the start of the season.

Sparta Rotterdam were trashed at home to FC Volendam, even though Volendam have lost the league’s top scorer Robert Mühren to Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar earlier in the week, Volendam didn’t have trouble finding the back of the net as they went on to beat Sparta 5-0, goals from Ludcinio Marengo, Kevin van Kippersluis(2), Brandley Kuwas and Henk Veerman. The win puts Volendam top of the table with an impressive +15 goal difference.

Telstar defeated Almere City 3-1, Kevin van Essen netted for the home side on the 39th minute, Enzio Bolderwijn of Almere was sent off just before half time, the decision proved to be a massive factor in the match as the ten men of Almere couldn’t handle Telstar’s Ralf Seuntjens who scored twice putting his side into a 3-0 lead until Sander Keller scored for the away side, no doubt keeper Varkevisser will be disappointed that he failed to keep a clean sheet but Telstar’s attention turns to a trip to De Graafschap

FC Emmen faced VVV-Venlo on Friday evening, Niki Maenpaa of VVV was sent off just four minutes into the match putting his side on the back foot from the start, things only got worse for VVV as they conceded on the 6th minute, when Alexander Bannik scored for the visiting side. Although Danny Post equalised for the ten men of Venlo on the 21st minute. FC Emmen netted three more times without any answer from the home side of VVV as Frank Olijve, Cas Peters and Jeffery Altheer scored for their side FC Emmen. VVV were reduced to nine men on the 54th minute as Jerold Promes received a straight red. The match finished 1-4 to FC Emmen, a lack of discipline was the obvious reason the home side faced the heavy defeat.
