Eerste Divisie Week 8 Round-up

Round 8 of the Dutch Eerste Divisie report by Kalkeren Kieran.

We begin our week nine report with NEC Nijmegen travelling to Almere City, NEC were hoping they could finish the 1st period on the top of the table but nothing was guaranteed and Rood Broods side went out to play for the win in which they were successful in doing so. NEC led at half-time thanks to a wonderful goal by Alireza Jahanbakhsh, the side doubled their lead through Sjoerd Ars on the 47th minute. Although the match was stopped for a short period due to crowd trouble, thankfully the match resumed after the break. Almere’s Ricardo Kip scored late into the second half but NEC held on to the win, finishing 1-2.

FC Volendam will go into the International break in second place, after a 0-1 victory over Fortuna Sittard on Friday evening, Fortuna were reduced to 10 men as Fatih Turan was shown a straight red on the 66th minute. Kevin Brands gave Volendam the lead several minutes later and it proved to be enough to take all three points.

Roda JC dominated possession against Jong PSV but the match finished all square at 1-1, Henk Dijkhuizen put Roda into the lead on the 17th minute but Jong PSV’s Boris Cmiljanic equalised on the 80th minute to clinch an important point in Kerkrade.

Joey Sleegers and Anthony van den Hurk both scored for FC Eindhoven as they defeated the yellow and blue of RKC Waalwijk, FC Eindhoven go into the international break on red hot form as they sit 4th in the table, RKC will no doubt be glad of the break as they slip to the foot of the table with only four points after nine matches.

Telstar got the better of Sparta Rotterdam on Friday evening in an exciting match which included 7 goals. Paul Gladon gave his Sparta side the lead with only 2 minutes played, but Johan Kulhan

Equalised for the home side several minutes later, although Sparta’s lead was restored thanks to Johan Voskamp’s goal on the 29th minute. Telstar weren’t going to go down without a fight and it was made clear as they equalised for the second time in the match through Jonathan Kindermans and It wasn’t long until Telstar found themselves leading for the first time as Anmar Almubaraki scored for the home side. Johan Voskamp got his second and Sparta’s third of the night making it 3-3, Telstar managed the final say thanks to Anmar Almubaraki’s goal on the 71st minute giving Telstar a 4-3 victory over Sparta in a closely fought match, which could have gone either way.

VVV-Venlo defeated Helmond Sport, VVV lead 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Melvin Platje and Jeffrey Altheer. Helmond scored on the 67th minute through Jack Tuyp but it wasn’t enough and VVV won 2-1, the win puts the Venlo side into 6th place unlike their opponents Helmond,who enter the international break in 18th.

FC Den Bosch entertained De Graafschaap on Friday evening, the experienced Anthony Lurling gave Den Bosch the lead on the 11th minute but De Graafschaap’s Vincent Vermeij equalised giving the travelling supporters something to cheer about. Jerry van Ewijk put De Graafschaap into the lead on the 71st minute and the match finished 1-2 to De Graafschaap.

Roland Bergkamp netted for FC Emmen to give them the lead against Achilles 29, which was then doubled by Cas Peters who gave FC Emmen a two goal advantage. It wasn’t all plain sailing for the away side, they were reduced to 10 men when Elson Rosario Almeida was shown a straight a red on the 78th minute. Freek Thoone managed to pull one back for Achilles but time was against the home side and FC Emmen took three valuable points on the road in a 1-2 victory for the away side.

Richairo Zivkovic and Elton Acolatse netted two goals each and Queensy Menig also got his name on the score sheet as Jong Ajax defeated Jong FC Twente 5-1, the home side will be disappointed they didn’t keep a clean sheet as Jari Oosterwijk scored for Jong FC Twente. It was a relatively comfortable win for Jong Ajax who will face Helmond Sport when the sides return after the International break.

FC Oss left it late against MVV Maastricht but the away side defeated MVV 0-2, Kevin van Veen netted for Oss on the 84th minute and Fatih Kamaci completed the win as he went on to doubled his sides lead late into added time.
