NEWS: KNVB release financial report

Three clubs in Dutch football are in poor financial shape, the KNVB announced on Wednesday morning. Based on their interim results, ADO Den Haag, Fortuna Sittard and FC Emmen are listed in Category 1.

Clubs listed in Category 1 must work on their financial recovery and gain Category 2 status within three years. The KNVB will investigate each case and set-up a plan to clean up each club’s financial difficulties.

The report, compared with earlier this year, is a vast improvement. In January, five clubs were listed in Category 1 and were put under scrutiny by the organisation. Helmond Sport and FC Dordrecht were then also listed as being in financial danger but the clubs reported last month to now being classed in the second category. The now-defunct SC Veendam, who went bankrupt last month, is removed from the list, while FC Emmen have dropped into Category 1 from the last report.

Mark Boetekees, who is responsible for the KNVB report is pleased with the progress. “It’s good to see that clubs now realise that a good and consistent financial policy is important. They must continue to work on financial recovery to ensure that their future is secure.”

In total they are 23 of the 34 professional clubs in the safe category 2. These are: AZ, FC Den Bosch, SC Cambuur, FC Dordrecht FC Eindhoven, Excelsior, Feyenoord, De Graafschap, Helmond Sport Heracles Almelo, MVV Maastricht, NAC Breda, NEC, RKC Waalwijk Roda JC, Sparta Rotterdam, Telstar, FC Twente, FC Utrecht, Vitesse, VVV-Venlo, Willem II and PEC Zwolle.

Eight clubs are in excellent financial condition and are listed in Category 3: Ajax, Almere City FC, Go Ahead Eagles, FC Groningen, Heerenveen, FC Oss, PSV and FC Volendam.

All clubs have to submit their figures to the federation for the year 2013/14 by the next financial assessment, which will be on June 15.

Go Ahead Eagles wins 6-3 on agg

It took Go Ahead Eagles 76 minutes to break the deadlock in their second leg against FC Dordrecht on Saturday evening. They ran out 3-0 winners and play VVV Venlo on Thursday in the next round of the promotion/relegation playoffs.

A Cas Peters strike and two goals from Quincy Promes decided the match and tie for Deventer side, both players are on-loan from FC Twente.

Fortuna Sittard 1 (Khalouta 76)

De Graafschap 3 (van der Meulen 52, Parzyszek 63, Jansen 85)

De Graafschap wins 5-2 on agg

A torrential rain filled night in Sittard finished Fortuna’s hopes of reaching the top flight for the first time since 2002. De Graafschap now need to get past Roda JC in the two-legged affair beginning on Thursday as they attempt to go back to the Eredivisie at the first time of asking.

Fortuna were without coach Wil Boessen who was serving a suspension after being sent to the stands in the last game.

The first goal came after half-time from a corner and big defender Timothy van der Meulen outmuscled his marker and powered a header home.

The tie was killed off just past the hour after some great work from Adil Auassar ended with a great cross to big Polish target man Piotr Parzyszek to head home for 2-0.

Aziz Khalouta gave Fortuna a bit of hope in the 75th minute pouncing a long ball and finishing past Joost Terol  in goal.

The final nail in Fortuna’s coffin was a fortunate goal from Anco Jansen with only five minutes remaining.  A cross-cum-shot that floated over the head of goalkeeper Ferhat Kaya in goal to cement the 3-1 victory and the second round place.

FIRST ROUND – FIRST LEG

Eagles’ Bart Vriends in duel with Dordrecht’s Fouad Idabhelhay

FC Dordrecht 3 (Veldwijk 21, 40)

Go Ahead Eagles 3 (Heerkens 25, Türüç 45+2, Houtkoop 56)

Dordrecht and Go Ahead Eagles shared six goals on Wednesday night in a lively game with some great goals.

Lars Veldwijk grabbed two goals for the hosts and the first came after 21 minutes. The energetic Jeffrey Rijsdijk provided the assist. Four minutes later and the visitors were level, Freek Heerkens scoring on 25 minutes.

Go Ahead found themselves a goal down again in the 40th minute and this time a man down. Bart Vriends conceded a penalty whom Veldwijk smashed down the middle for his second of the game, the defender was given his marching orders from referee Richard Liesveld.

But again, Dordrecht were not ahead for long. Two minutes into first-half injury time, Turkish Under-19 international Deniz Türüç curled a free-kick perfectly past a stranded Warner Hahn in the home goal.

Dordrecht showed aggression in the second half as they searched for a third goal but a blunder from Hahn let Go Ahead take the lead against the run of play. Failing to collect the ball on the edge of the box, Hahn lost out to Türüç. The young Turk was smart and instead of shooting, crossed the ball towards the back post.  He had spotted the arriving Xander Houtkoop and the winger placed his head onto the ball into the empty net.

It took the home side until ten minutes from time to find an equaliser, and it came from Cape Verde international defender Josimar Lima. A floating free-kick sent into the penalty area by Rijsdijk, and Lima rose above everyone to head into the corner of the net to clinch the draw.

The winner over two legs faces VVV Venlo in the second round.

De Graafschap - Fortuna Sittard
Piotr Parzyszek rises above the Fortuna defence to head home

De Graafschap 2 (Parzyszek 45, 70)

Fortuna Sittard 1 (Vets 80)

Two headed goals from soaring Polish striker Piotr Parzyszek provides De Graafschap a great chance of meeting Roda JC in the second round of the playoffs, despite a 80th minute consolation goal from Fortuna’s Niels Vets.

Target man Parzysek, 6ft 3inches, got on the end of a pair Tim Vincken’s crosses for Peter Huistra’s men but Belgian defender Vets gave Fortuna Sittard a salvation in this two-legged affair.

JUPILER LEAGUE REPORT: Week 28 – Friday 29th March

Eerste_Divisie_Logo

Volendam are creeping up on league leaders Sparta Rotterdam after they came out triumphant in their five goal thriller as Sparta failed in theirs. MVV also dropped points as Helmond Sport grabbed a win to stay in fourth.

Unhappy – Sparta head coach Michel Vonk

Go Ahead Eagles 3-2 Sparta Rotterdam – The race for promotion to the Eredivisie has been blown wide open as Sparta Rotterdam dropped points in a 3-2 defeat away to Go Ahead Eagles. Luck was not on Sparta’s side on Friday night, as they found themselves two goals down after 33 minutes thanks to strikes from Marnix Kolder and Xander Houtkoop.  The second goal had a strong hint of offside which was not given.  The Rotterdam side grabbed one back in the second half just before the hour with a Sandro Calabro goal, but the two goal cushion was restored when Quincy Promes took a penalty for his thirteenth goal of the season. Sparta did manage a second goal with Roald Van Hout but they were unable to find a third to salvage a point.

Milestone – Jack Tuyp (middle) is presented with award for his 300th game

Volendam 3-2 Fortuna Sittard – The hosts came from behind from an early 8th minute Joeri Schroyen goal, with the help of a red card. On the stroke of half time fortune grabbed Volendam as Jordie Briels received a direct red card and Michael Kramer got the equaliser. After the break, it was all Volendam and on the hour Jack Tuyp hit home a penalty past Fortuna ‘keeper Ferhat Kaya to take the lead. This was a celebration for Tuyp in his 300th game in professional football. The game was wrapped up a minute from time when Kramer struck his second and Abdelaziz Khalouta grabbed a injury-time consolation. Volendam now lie joint second putting the pressure on Sparta at the top.

Helmond Sport 2-1 FC Eindhoven – Helmond Sport were the victors of a close encounter in the Southeast Brabant derby over FC Eindhoven. Two goals in as many minutes for Helmond shocked Eindhoven with American Charles Kazlauskas and a spot-kick from Emrullah Gunvenc. On-loan PSV Eindhoven midfielder Maikel Verkoelen smashed a goal just after the hour in return.

MVV Maastricht 2-2 De Graafschap – Bryan Smeets hit a two-minute double as MVV came back from two goals down to grab a vital point. A Koen Daerden own goal gave the Superboeren the lead and Piotr Parzyszek extended it to 2-0 before the half-time whistle. Smeets grabbed two goals in the 51st and 52nd minutes for his hometown club.

Dordrecht 0 -1 Oss – Kenny Teijsse (loanee left-back from FC Utrecht) hit the only goal of the game in the 39th minute in this mid-table clash.
